Presuppositions and the Regress of the Premises

In this talk, I propose and motivate a new solution to Lewis Carroll's regress of the premises and, building on that solution, I develop a theory of active reasoning.

Talk about Looks

In this talk, I look at looks-talk — that is, the use of ‘looks’ in natural language — and connect it with some themes in the philosophy of perception such as the representational contents of
experience. Among other things, I argue that natural language ‘looks’ — in its so-called phenomenal use — is not a propositional attitude operator but has a very peculiar semantics, indeed.
